3300 students are participating in COPE-project!
Many of the COPE-schools are now starting their projects. 3300 students from 179 classes, 42 schools and 9 countries are in these months working with COPE.
The project
The aim of the project is develop and pilot a frame where children and young people
- can work with their own interest in health trough a rich nature, a clean environment and space for outdoor life
- develop reflection upon their needs and possibilities
- develop their confidence and ability to act in a democratic society
- develop responsibility for the coming generations
- bring in to focus how the school can involve outdoor areas, the surrounding nature and the local community in the teaching
- to demonstrate how local authorities, politicians and other decisionmakers can involve children and young people in development and management of nature, environment and outdoor life.
9 countries with each 5 schools are participating. The countries are Norway, Sweden, Finland, Iceland, Denmark, Russia (St Petersburg and Kaliningrad), Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania. The organisations behind the Eco-school programme are coordinators.
The project is funded by the Nordic Council of Ministers and coordinated by The Danish Outdoor Council and organizations in the other participating Countries.
